COUNSELLING

ONE ON ONE THERAPUTIC CONVERSATIONS

grounded in respect | guided by outcomes | generating change

WHAT IS COUNSELLING

Counselling is a one-to-one therapeutic conversation with a trusted professional. Through utilising psychotherapeutic interventions, counselling attends to an individual's unique challenges while working towards producing meaningful change. Basically, conversations that generate space to make sense of what’s going on and practical responses.

Sessions are tailored to your circumstances and aimed at producing tangible outcomes while always being grounded in respect.

HOW WE START

We begin with the basics. In our first session, I explain how I work, covering important points like privacy, confidentiality, and how we handle risk.

From there, we talk about what’s brought you here. You might have a clear goal or just a sense that something needs to shift. Either way, we’ll explore what matters to you, what feels off-limits or essential, and where you’d like things to change.

The work is guided by what feels useful, respectful, and steady, at a pace that suits you.

WHO SEES ME

I specialise in working with men aged 25+ in regional and rural communities, though my scope of practice includes a wide range of clients — adults, adolescents, and older people.

My background includes working across community services, not-for-profits, and family and relationship settings, with people from all walks of life.

REASONS MEN DON'T SEEK COUNSELLING

"I shouldn't have to need professional help"

Some big jobs need an extra set of hands (or minds)

"Counselling is awkward"

It's as awkward as we make it

"She'll be right"

Sometimes they aren't. Don't wait til its too late, plus suicide rates are still way too high

"I don't even know you"

True, but give me a bell and see what you think

"What would you know about my life"

Nothing - yet, but I've worked successfully with hundreds of folks over thousands of hours

"I've tried it before and it was no good"

Not all counsellors get the same results
